Rest - no chores, no cooking, no cleaning
Relaxation - take a dip in the indoor pool, soak in the Jacuzzi in your room, take a walk and admire the splendor of the mountains in all her seasons.
Rejuvenation - learn something new in a class.
Recreation - or just do your own thing, sew until the wee hours, be with others who understand your obsession with fabric and thread. The quilting room is available 24 hours a day. Who needs sleep when there is all this fabric to play with?
Retail Therapy - your very own personal pop-up quilt shop onsite in case you forget anything. Visit the shops in the quaint Village Center or take a road trip to visit quilt shops.
Where is it?
Nestled in New Hampshire's White Mountains is the Snowy Owl Inn. Right next door is the Village Center of Waterville Valley, a quintessential New England town square with shops and restaurants. The Inn has an indoor octagonal heated pool and most rooms have your very own Jacuzzi tub for relaxing. All rooms feature TV, data ports, refrigerator and wi-fi throughout the Inn.
Columbus Weekend R&R
October 9-12, 2020 - Friday to Monday - Columbus Day Weekend
We have just opened registration - call or email us to snag a spot!
You have your choice of working on your own projects all weekend (no class) or enjoying a class with Sarah Ann Smith on Saturday and working on your own projects the rest of the weekend (class).
Sarah Ann Smith - You've seen her on The Quilt Show and her beautiful quilts are on display at major shows around the globe. Her specialty is creating art with fabric and thread but she is a wealth of knowledge in other quilty areas as well.
During our retreat Sarah will be sharing her techniques for creating Hawaiian applique with your machine. Sarah says "Hawaiian quilts are beautiful in symmetry and bold design, but hand appliqué is time-consuming. Learn to create a Hawaiian-style masterpiece in a fraction of the time. Select an 18” block pattern provided by the instructor to begin a pillow top, small wall hanging, or begin a larger quilt, or work on a 6" block in class as practice for your 18" block at home."

Register early. Space is limited (15 quilters minimum). A deposit of $150.00 is required to hold your spot. The remaining balance is due two months before the retreat. Just give us a phone call or email to get started.
headmoose "@" purplemoosedesigns "dot" com
Purple Moose Designs reserves the right to cancel three weeks prior if there are not a minimum of 15 quilters registered. Full refunds would be issued. There will be no refunds if R&R is canceled due to circumstances beyond our control such as the weather or the moon crashing into the earth...stuff like that. If you should need to cancel your spot for any reason after the last deadline, your deposit will be forfeited unless your spot can be filled.
Have more questions?
For many of our instructors, we have to secure them 2-3 years in advance. Once we have an instructor we start taking names for the pre-registration list. It costs nothing to be on that list, just add your name and email. Once prices and class info are determined then that list gets the first crack at securing a spot in the class. If there are spaces left then it goes to our newsletter folks. Finally, it is offered to the general public.
Once you have been registered you will be invited to join our private online chat group. This makes it really easy for me to update you quickly and give you any needed information such as supply list, games, block swaps, etc. You can also get to know some of your other classmates.
If you would like to have a roomie but don't have a friend that can join you, we will do our best to hook you up with someone else in the same situation.
If you are flying in and would prefer to not bring your machine (or you're driving and just want to try a new one!) no worries. Machines are available for rent from Bittersweet Fabric Shop for a nominal fee. We make the arrangements for you.
We do have a guest teacher but the class is only one day. The rest of the time is free-sew to work on whatever you want. If you prefer to not do the class, that's just fine. More teacher time for the rest of us!
Well...I say don't choose, attend them all! If you attend any two or more of our retreats in any calendar year then you get $75 off each one. Is that cool or what?
