Quilting Retreats

Our retreats are all about pampering you! All the prices include EVERYTHING - lodging, meals, teacher (if offered) and all the fun stuff too.

Rest - no chores, no cooking, no cleaning

Relaxation - soak in the Jacuzzi, take a walk and admire the splendor of the mountains or the lake.

Rejuvenation - learn something new in a class.

Recreation - or just do your own thing, sew until the wee hours, be with others who understand your obsession with fabric and thread. The quilting room is available 24 hours a day. Who needs sleep when there is all this fabric to play with?

Retail Therapy - your very own personal pop-up quilt shop onsite in case you forget anything or take a road trip to visit quilt shops.

New Hampshire retreats:

Nestled in New Hampshire's White Mountains is the Snowy Owl Inn. Right next door is the Village Center of Waterville Valley, a quintessential New England town square with shops and restaurants. The Inn has regular rooms as well as some rooms with your very own Jacuzzi tub for relaxing. All rooms feature TV, data ports, refrigerator and wi-fi throughout the Inn. The new owners (as of 2021) have done a fabulous job of renovating the Inn to it's previous glory!

North Carolina retreats:

Our North Carolina retreats are held at a retreat center located on beautiful Lake Gaston. The retreat center is fully equipped for quilters. Most of the bedrooms have a sunrise view of Lake Gaston. Need a break from quilting? No worries… there is plenty of quiet deck space on the Main Sundeck or shaded Lakeside Lounge to enjoy a great book or stroll down to the boathouse to hang out by the water.  Catch site of some turtles, loons, osprey or heron. Take a dip in the hot tub to sooth your muscles after a long day of sewing.

What do I get for the money?

Our prices include EVERYTHING - lodging, meals, class with the featured instructor (if offered), quilting room available 24 hours a day, your own 6' or 8' table for quilting, raffles, games, prizes, welcome package...the works!

Sounds great, I would love to go...what next?

Register early. Space is limited. A deposit of $150.00 is required to hold your spot. Your registration is complete once your deposit has been paid, a registration form has been submitted and you are approved.

The remaining balance is due two months before the retreat.

Cancellation Policy

Purple Moose Designs reserves the right to cancel three weeks prior if the minimum number of quilters has not been reached. Full refunds would be issued. There will be no refunds if R&R is canceled due to circumstances beyond our control such as the weather or the moon crashing into the earth...stuff like that. If you should need to cancel your spot for any reason after the last deadline, your deposit will be forfeited unless your spot can be filled.

Your retreats fill up so fast. How can I get in?

For many of our instructors, we have to secure them 2-3 years in advance. We do have a pre-registration list. It costs nothing to be on that list, just add your name and email. Once prices and class info are determined and a registration date has been set then that list gets notified. We also make announcements in our newsletter (also free!)

I've paid my deposit money, now what?

Your registration is considered complete when you have paid your deposit, returned your registration form and have had your details approved by Purple Moose. You will then be invited to our private online chat group for that specific retreat. This makes it really easy for me to update you quickly and give you any needed information such as supply list, games, block swaps, etc. You can also get to know your classmates!

I would like to go but don't want to pay for a single room and have no one to share a room with. Can I still go?

If you would like to have a roomie but don't have a friend that can join you, we will do our best to hook you up with someone else in the same situation.

Do I have to lug my machine on the airplane?

If you are flying in and would prefer to not bring your machine, no worries. We do have a couple of rental machines available for a nominal fee. They are first asked, first served!

Will there be time to work on my own projects?

For those retreats that have a guest instructor, the class is only one day. The rest of the time is free-sew to work on whatever you want. If you prefer to not do the class, that's just fine. More teacher time for the rest of us!

So many of your retreats sound fun, how do I choose which to attend?

Well...I say don't choose, attend them all!

What Others Have To Say...

We came to see the fall foliage and the retreat was a bonus. We knew no one, everyone went out of their way to greet and include us.
