Outside The Grid Ruler

My buddy Barbara Chojnacki from Six Gables Designs has invented a new ruler that I predict will be taking the quilting world by storm really soon. Have you ever wanted to make a 9-patch or 36-patch block in a size that was not divisible by 3? Perhaps an 8" 9-patch to use as a companion block to another? The thought of 1/3" or 1/6" to accomplish that probably sent you screaming. Well, this ruler eliminates all the math and allows you to make squares, 1/2 square triangles or 1/4 square triangles without even thinking about it - and no calculator required! Simply choose the icon in the corner for square, 1/2 square or 1/4 square and the appropriate seam allowances are automatically (magically perhaps??) added. Pure genius!

The Binding Tool

This has got to be one of the coolest tools around, sure wish I had thought of it! If you're anything like me - it's never an easy task to finish off the binding on a quilt. I always have to really stop and think about how long the tails should be, which way to sew the strips to get that final bias seam, where exactly to sew that seam, etc... This tool allows you to just do it and not have to stress your brain to get it done. And the best part is - it comes out perfect every time! The ruler is actually clear but comes with a blue/white/clear tape that peels off. It showed up better in the photo with the blue tape still attached so I left it.
